Paul Kidney Experience

Formed out of the ashes of seminal psychedelic nosie-grunge bands Monroe's Fur, Kiss My Poodles Donkey and the Southern Fried Kidneys, the Paul Kidney Experience hoist the freak flag and turn the wattage up to eleven infusing psych/ free jazz / and noise. Live experience not for the faint hearted.

The Man From Atlantis (TMFA)

The Man From Atlantis (TMFA) is an experimental, psychedelic project and the moniker of Melbourne musician Mike Sill (Ray Of Creation / Imperial Leatherman), and features members of High Pass Filter, Black Cab, the Hired Guns, and The Sunset Strip.

Using improvisation, American primitive, krautrock, punk, folk, free jazz, and the Carnatic ragas of the east as a reference, TMFA applies delicate brush strokes to the canvas; layering and building upon a traditional arrangement before diving head first into the maelstrom where improvisation and spontaneity coalesce.

The Drunken Boat
The Drunken Boat is a free-noise/drone/psych duo featuring Melbournian Dale Chapman and Hobart-native Tim Panaretos. Between them they use electronics, Indian instruments such as bulbul tarang and harmomium, lapsteel guitar and various other bits and pieces to make haphazard noise-scapes and occasional wayward rhythms.

Sounding since 2012 but most active over the last few years with Tim living in Melbourne. This will be the last chance to see them play for a while because Tim is moving back to Tasmania.

AAA
A pioneer of the early 90s’ free improvisation Melbourne scene, AAA was the brainchild behind influential acts Root Witch, Deep Space, Free Energy Device and the Sonic Arts Collective and was /is an original member of 80s seminal psych rockers The Sunset Strip.
AAA plays free jazz infused blues or ‘Free Blues’. With live appearances an absolute rarity, this performance is not one to be missed.

Mara
Mara is a musician and composer based in Melbourne. She works with a variety of instruments from viola, guitar, harmonium and omnichord, to electronically manipulated sounds to create experimental and improvisational songs and performances.

Leigh Woodburgess

Leigh Woodburgess is a visual artist figuratively and abstractly exploring nature, mythology and the subconscious.

Through layering of different media, he integrates these elements to illustrate ambient, uninhibited images. Having worked as a visual artist for a number of years, he has developed his own unique style integrating energetic linework with graphic painting techniques all improvised live on stage with music.

His work is influenced by Gustav Klimt and Francis Bacon, more locally Brett Whiteley and Ian Fairweather and also to the writings of Madame Blavatsky and Joseph Campbell.

Leigh will be interpreting the Sound of One Hand Clapping onto canvas from 5pm and will resume @ 7pm with AAA.
