Absurd Cosmos Late Nite/Telephone/Clinton Green - LongPlay - 27 Apr 2017

Final performance ever of Mark Groves' Absurd Cosmos Late Nite project. "Groves wearily pursues the oppressively mirthless and red-eyed air of a post-midnight suburban petrol station scene - a stop for coffee, snacks, The Picture magazine, forced conversation and the undead ambience of lo-resolution broadcast chatter, in which this perpetual predawn marinates, night after night. Chosen text and audio are assembled from collected fragments of local talkback, overheard declarations and the endless YouTube comment pit." -

New titles on Shame File Mailorder

Ross Manning "LED" 10" - This record documents a live performance by Manning using only LED lights as a sound source. The effect is stunning; sometimes sounding electronic, other times like massed strings. Another essential release from this ever-creative artist.

Great Waitress  "Hue" LP - Hue demonstrates both the patience and confidence of the trio of Magda Mayas (piano), Monika Brooks (accordion) and Laura Altman (clarinet). Their third album is really quite remarkable. It squeaks, rattles reverberates, shimmers, converges into a truly unique organism, one that feels not just far beyond the sum of its parts, but also, oddly enough quite untouched by human hands - Cyclic Defrost

**Great Waitress’ “Flock” CD also back in stock**

Dotabata "Eventual Dusk" cassette - Analogue harsh noise from electronics, found objects, field recordings and tape manipulation. Limited edition of 26 hand-numbered copies.

de Groot & Slide Night "Sailing Ships & Tarot Cards"

Composer Christopher de Groot together with Melbourne’s only exotica band SLIDE NIGHT release their 72-minute exotica magnum opus Sailing Ships & Tarot Cards.

The album, released through New Zealand art music label RATTLE RECORDS is a melting pot of 1960s exotica, Delia Derbyshire inspired sci-fi music, classic Bernard Herrmann and a pinch of John Zorn – Tropical noir-nightmare!

Incorporating mysterious sound bites and location sounds, Sailing Ships & Tarot Cards is an auditory journey around Australia and the world. It blends the rich and fascinating world of mid-century exotica with flavours of the Australian bush and a twist of David Lynch.

The album is out now through Northside Records, Readings Carlton and Rattle Records –

“Sailing Ships and Tarot Cards” is an engaging musical road-trip that whisks you through a landscape of changing moods - leaving you breathless and eager to hear it again.
