Alex Garsden
Alexander Garsden (b. 1987) is a composer, guitarist and electro-acoustic musician, working across multiple exploratory musical disciplines. He is based in Melbourne, Australia.
Recent works include commissions from the Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, Speak Percussion, Michael Kieran Harvey, Jessica Aszodi, Eugene Ughetti, and Golden Fur, alongside performances with Slave Pianos (Melbourne/Yogyakarta), Erkki Veltheim, and
Rohan Drape.
He performs as a soloist of both notated and improvised musics, and in a range of other contexts including True Strength (with Ida Duelund-Hansen), Francis Plagne, Ned Collette and Wirewalker, Yuko Kono, and Forth Impact (with Sam Dunscombe).
Alexander is co-director of the INLAND Concert Series, and has taught through the RMIT and the University of Melbourne.
Amanda Terry & Tim Green
Violin and percussion duo from Brisbane.
Matthew Revert
Matthew Revert is an author based in Melbourne, Australia. His work tends toward the indescribably unusual and patently absurd and defies easy genre classification.
His first book, 'A Million Versions of Right' was released in July 2009 by Australian-based press, LegumeMan Books. It has been very well received by those kind enough to read it, which to be honest, isn't that many people.
Outside of writing, Matthew also works as a graphic designer. He tries admirably to record music, however he's not very good at it. His only area of vague aptitude is in writing.

Cray performs first Melbourne show in 6 years.

Cray (Ross Healy) has released 25 albums around the globe since 1994, had his music used in Japanese adverts, his sound art used in New York art shows, runs Vicmod and Vicmod Records, can be seen working at MESS on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons and while he has been performing improv electronics in Bendigo (Undue Noise ) and Castlemaine , he hasnt played in his original home town of Melbourne for at least 6 years.

This Sunday from 3pm to 9pm (Cray performs at 7pm) you will hear the underground of Melbourne's electronic scene via Resonant at Grumpy's. 125 Smith Street, Melbourne, Australia 3065
The day is totally free so come check out a huge variety of electronic music styles.

Ross has also created 4 new remixes for Snog ( 2 hard hitting dance tracks and 2 abstract electronic tracks) which will appear on the soon to be released Snog Rich Kuntz Remix album.

Still not sure who the fuck this guy is? Check out this interview.

GODHULI is a new minimal/ambient/drone solo project from Matt Barlow of Adelaide’s Sparkspitter, making its Melbourne debut tonight.

Monday July 25 @ The Old Bar, 74-76 Johnston St, Fitzroy

$5

More about the album:

INTIMATE draws upon experiences of close relationships where mutual understanding can be achieved through non-verbal communication. The kind of developed relationships where simple gestures or expressions can be read to express inner thoughts and emotions, or even coordinate actions and make decisions. Purr presents INTIMATE with similar intentions, as sounds without a specific narrative but from which complex imagery, ideas or feelings can be drawn. They are left open for the receiver to project back into, and over time they can become personalised with the listener’s own perspective, interpretation and memories.

La Musica - La Mama - 25 Jul 2016

La Musica @ La Mama Theatre

Clinton Green (turntables, remote-activated percussion)
Michiko Morita (piano)

"After moving to Australia, I discovered the joy of composition. People, places and feelings inspire me to paint with sound." Japanese pianist Michiko Morita is a wonderful musician whose beautiful 'sound-pictures' are a joy to hear - as are her modest explanations of her pieces. After a few years break due to injury, we're thrilled to welcome Michiko back to Musica for a solo set.

Clinton Green joins us for a solo set of turntable-based sounds. He makes something akin to music. Clinton has been active in Australian experimental music since the 1990s as a recording and performing artist, curator, facilitator, writer and researcher. He has worked with unconventional approaches to guitars, turntables and found... objects as tools for new forms of musical expression. He also works with dancers, theatre and performance artists in improvised collaborative situations. For this performance, Clinton will present a multiple turntable and remote-activated percussion spatial piece that will bathe the audience in the microscopic sonic details of shattered vinyl, melted flexidiscs, stressed turntable mechanisms and the secret aural lives of objects.http://ClintonGreenMusic.com/

Coordinate: calling interested collaborators

Australia’s longest-running electronic music label and artist collective Clan Analogue are looking for new artists to bring into the fold for Coordinate – a new collaborative compilation album project. We are particularly interested in new artists who haven’t released much (or even any) music before. And we’re going to follow a different approach with this release, as it is all about collaboration.

So, we’re going to team you up with someone you’ve never worked before. With your collaborator we want you to come up with something that pushes you beyond your usual working methods. What can you do that expands the possibilities of electronic music both for yourselves and for the artform generally? You will need to be willing to work out of your comfort zone and to use modern tools of cloud-based collaboration.

If you are interested in taking part in this project, please fill in the registration form. And we’ll be in touch to get you working on a track with your collaborator!

Registrations close at the end of July.

Here is the form.
