This week at MIUC we offer up a fantastic voyage across vast
stretches of the sonoverse, escorted by complex machines especially
fashioned for unearthing and scrutinising cranial stimulation in
sonotextural form. Tim Coster invokes glacial tones
from an inanimate assortment of wires and controls that will never be
capable, unfortunately, of appreciating the languidly drifting beauty it
creates. Jonathon Nokes wields his device with
somewhat different intent, tearing at the very fabric of sounds to see
what colours trickle out, then colliding together voice with synthetic
frequencies to send those colours sparking around the room. And Kristian M. Roberts.
interrogates the potentials of sonic entities at a micro level,
amplifying and inclining acousmatic sources into alien abstractions
armed with acoustic-to-electric transducer and magnetic media.
