Tuesday January 22nd @ the Make It Up Club (15th Birthday Festival Week 2)

7.30pm Doors for an 8pm-sharp start.

The second week of Make It Up Club's 15th birthday festivities serves up a delectable buffet of sonic treats to ears hungry for extemporised waves of energy manifested as reverberations. The first-time trio of Gearoid Brinn, Peter Knight and Gareth Thomson illustrate methods for divorcing one's instrument from its traditional techniques through multiple outputs, processing and junk intervention respectively. Antediluvian Rocking Horse throw the ultimate improv party as they hack and slash through rave culture, post-everything culture and a-lack-of-culture as they smash together other people's music that should probably never, ever have gone together in the first place. Ex-Melbournite-current-Berliner Anthea Caddy, Australia's greatest avant-violist Erkki Veltheim, and Melbourne's favourite avant-folk genius Frances Plagne unite for what could be nothing less than pure unadulterated bliss in string form. Delicious counterpoint to the aforementioned stringbliss provided by perpetual enfant terribles Brendan Walls and Oren Ambarchi - enough said. And to top it all off we have the pleasure of bearing witness to the premiere performance of two of our national treasures, James Rushford and Joe Talia, with an international treasure in Canadian microsound artist Crys Cole, for a meeting of the minds that should prove to be some of the most well-considered, delicate and absolutely enjoyable improvised music to ever hit the Make It Up Club stage.
