Chi-Uro New Music Melbourne Debut

Chi-Uro’s debut concert at the Clifton Creative Arts Centre in Richmond on Friday June 24 (8pm) will feature rarely heard contemporary and late 20th century works by Salvatore Sciarrino, Kaija Saariaho, Isang Yun, Klaus Lang, and Samuel Dunscombe, focusing on the various ways in which the sonic palette of traditional wind instruments has been extended and augmented – from extended techniques to the use of live electronics.

Kaija Saariaho - NoaNoa for flute and electronics
Samuel Dunscombe - Sketch for West Park for flute, clarinet, found sound, and self-improvising electronics
Klaus Lang - Rote Asche for two bass clarinets, cello, and accordion (transcription for pipe organ)
Isang Yun - Piri for oboe solo
Salvatore Sciarrino - Muro d’Orizzonte for alto flute, cor anglais, and bass clarinet
