This week's concert features a stellar ensemble led by one of the MIUC's founders, Ren Walters. Ren's This Ensemble have performed some sublime, challenging and rarefied, abstract improv over the years, and this incarnation of the group promises nothing less. Over 2 sets, and divided into 3 ensemble sub-groups displaced around the room (acoustic, electronic and amplified bands in opposite apexes of the space), the performers will be exploring the dynamics of inter and intra group improvisation, firstly with a series of miniatures, and then with a large collaboration in the second set. - Acoustic group featuring: Joanne Cannon (bassoon), Gareth Skinner (cello), Andrea Keeble (violin), Caerwen Martin (cello), Dur-e Dara (percussion), and Adam Simmons (reeds)
- Electronic group featuring: Peter Knight (electronics), Joe Talia (electronics), Marco Cher-Gibard (electronics), and Tony Hicks (electronics)
- Amplified group featuring: Ren Walters (guitar), Phil Collings (drumkit), Chris Hale (bass), and Stephen Magnusson (guitar)
