OREN AMBARCHI
Oren Ambarchi's works are hesitant and tense extended songforms located in the cracks between several schools: modern electronics and processing; laminal improvisation and minimalism; hushed, pensive songwriting; the deceptive simplicity and temporal suspensions of composers such as Morton Feldman and Alvin Lucier; and the physicality of rock music, slowed down and stripped back to its bare bones, abstracted and replaced with pure signal. Ambarchi has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists including Sunn 0)), Fennesz, Otomo Yoshihide & John Zorn. www.orenambarchi.com

MARCO FUSINATO
Alongside exhibiting in gallery contexts where he’s currently featured in Sonic Youth’s ‘Sensational Fix’ exhibition, Marco Fusinato has had a long history of working with (and making) experimental music. His sound works explore the language of noise. His primary focus is on the unconventional use and abuse of the electric guitar and related electronic devices. ‘He extends the traditional language of the guitar to distressed oblivion, compounding deracinated electronic detritus into over-amplified dreamweapons, unleashing tsunamis of ecstatic free noise’. Apart from his solo performances Fusinato also plays in the group POLETOPRA (with composer Anthony Pateras).

CANDLESNUFFER
David Brown has been involved in the Melbourne experimental, art rock/punk rock scene since the mid-seventies. The focus of his solo project “candlesnuffer” has increasingly centred on the development of composing techniques which meld opposing streams like conventional electro-
acoustic methods with noise and rock and also the development of a vocabulary of tiny acoustic sounds enlarged outside their normal context. He has continued to develop a vocabulary that runs the gamut from rock bassist through experimental guitarist to sound artist. His group projects include Pateras/Baxter/Brown, Wester Grey, Bucketrider, & Embers. www.candlesnuffer.org

MISTY RA
Local guitarist Justin Bull has had extensive experience in Central Victoria and New Zealand alternative music scenes with his loopy/extended guitar work. Founding member of local improv group Planet Caravan.
