James Rushford gigs in April/early May 2009

forwarded from James Rushford:
---------------------------------

On April 1st, the Golden Fur trio (Sam Dunscombe-Laptop, Judith Hamann-cello, James Rushford-viola) will be supporting psychotic band Chotto Matte at Ding Dong, 9pm. April Fools Day will be full of happy surprises..

April 16th is the launch of new solo record by JUAREZ (Jess Pinney) out thru Sabbatical records. The brand new James Rushford / Joe Talia duo will play a dronescape support (who also have a Sbbtcl release in the pipeline for next month). Dead Boomers top off the lineup at the Old Bar (Fitzroy).

April 18th, I have a world premiere of my new trio work commissioned by Speak Percussion. This is the longest work I've ever written, and probably the last one I'll attempt of this duration! Concert's at 6pm, Melbourne Recital Centre (Salon), and also includes works by Feldman, Pauset and Hauser.

April 19th is a special reuniting of Johnny Saw Horses in their newly-formed trio format at East Brunswick Club. With Jess returning from the UK briefly, this is the only show we've booked for the next many months, and we have new material of even sludgier variety to boast, so come down. Also on the bill is a homecoming set from local hero Francis Plagne, and the strange but slick songstress Teeth and Tongue.

April 21st, Johnny Saw Horses will try something different, and play a free-noise set at Make It Up Club (Bar Open). Warning: No songs to be heard!

May 1st will be the second show of the Golden Fur New Music Project. This 're-imagined' chamber music series draws on experimental, avant-garde and cross-media practices. The May show includes a world premiere by Kate Neal, an Australian premiere by Klaus Lang, and works by Logothetis, Gubaidulina and Scelsi. Doors are 8pm at the Collins St Baptist Church.

Oh! And anyone in Brisbane can see Joe and I play at the IMA for the Mono Festival on April 9th.
