Maximum Arousal presents:
GUDRUN GUT (Germany) & MANI NEUMEIER (Germany) of GURU GURU

Gudrun Gut’s CV is an eclectic one, spanning a wide range of media and collaborations. While still a student at the Hochschule Der Künste, Berlin (1978-84) Gut first came to prominence in the early eighties as part of a scene the media dubbed "ingenious dilettantes". A member of Mania D and an early incarnation of Einstürzende Neubauten she soon formed successful eighties all-female art rock band, "Malaria!" touring Europe and the USA. "Malaria!" is still very influential today (e.g. Peaches et al) and even reached the charts in 2001 via a "Kaltes Klares Wasser" remix by Chicks On Speed.

In the late eighties Gut was part of three women band Matador and since the early nineties Gut has been responsible for some film scores, videos and radio plays. in 1991 she started the Miasma project, an international mixed media collaboration with Myra Davies (Canada). She is the founder and owner of two influential labels Monika Enterprise and Moabit Musik with Moabit reissuing material by Malaria!, Matador, Miasma while Monika Enterprise supports young artists in the realm of new electronic/independent music (established 1997, over 50 releases to date) such as Quarks, Barbara Morgenstern, Komeit and Contriva. Gut also curates and produces live electronic media events all over Europe, featuring both her own work (as a dj/music selector) and that of other artists. Together with Thomas Fehlmann Gut hosts and co-produces Oceanclub radio, a weekly 2 hour show of "Musica Obscura" on Radio Eins, Berlin. Gudrun Gut has been a pioneering force in German underground music and this will be her first live appearance in Australia - not to be missed!

Mani Neumeier has been at the helm of Germany's legendary & influential Krautrock group Guru Guru for over 35 years. He first started in the '60s German freejazz sphere with Alexander von Schlippenbach's big band Glob Unity Orchestra (featuring Peter Brotzmann, Peter Kowald, Jaki Liebezeit & others) before switching to the well-known freak-out psychedelic rock experience Guru Guru.

Guru Guru's legendary early releases such as "UFO" document the reigning moments of this acid-destroyed-jamming Krautrock outfit, and are essential artifacts of pure thunder. Mani also recorded on classic influential 70's releases such as Harmonia's "Deluxe" + Cluster & Eno's "Begegnungen". He continues to work in Guru Guru & many other projects such as Acid Mothers Guru Guru together with Makoto Kawabata & Atsushi Tsuyama. Mani will be performing a duo with Australian guitarist Oren Ambarchi.

Gudrun Gut & Mani Neumeier - 2 legendary German artists performing on the same night at the Toff promises to be an unforgettable experience - be there!!!
